A traditional village show in the heart of the Brecon Beacons August Bank Holiday Saturday every year
VILLAGE SHOW SATURDAY 26th August 2017
A very successful Village Show and Sports in wonderful weather was held in the Henderson Hall and on the Playing Fields on August Bank Holiday Saturday. The sun shone all day encouraging record breaking numbers to this traditional Talybont-on-Usk event. Activities on the field began with a fancy dress competition for the children followed by a full programme of various types of races for young people (and some older ones).
There were many attractions on the field to interest young people and adults alike. These included traditional village events like skittles and a pony ride, as well as a, bouncy castle and a variety of stalls. Sports included egg & spoon races, sack races, obstacle course races and finishing off with tug of war challenges.
Competitive classes for children and young adults were staged in two marquees and these were very well supported with many entries. The public were very interested in the two wheelbarrow competitions for children.
Adult competitive classes for flowers, fruit, vegetables, domestic, art, handicraft and photography were staged in the Henderson Hall. Overall entries were up by over 100 this year!
Altogether a hugely successful and enjoyable Show, appreciated by the visiting public, and a reflection of the hard work generated by the Show Committee and numerous volunteers.
